In a recent interview with Optica, our Managing director Thijs Kniknie shared how Demcon photonics is helping bridge the gap between photonic innovation and industrial reality. By combining expertise in photonics, mechatronics, precision engineering and manufacturing, we develop the systems and equipment needed to bring photonic technologies to market.

Demcon aims to establish a strong position in the photonics assembly ecosystem, either by offering its own products or by providing assembly and integration services. The foundation of Demcon photonics is the fruitful outcome of investments and collaboration by Demcon focal and Demcon high-tech systems in the photonics domain.

Our managing director Thijs Kniknie had a great conversation with Petra Wicherink, director of PhotonicsNL. They discussed Demcon’s exciting developments in photonics, including advanced equipment for coupling fiber arrays to PICs (Photonic Integrated Circuits), meant for high volumes.
